On January 8, 2024, the Protocol to address gender-based violence was published in the UAM Weekly. It establishes a practical guide to understand, address and punish gender-based violence and, among other things, the competent bodies and instances are identified, as well as the offices that in each university unit attend to, investigate and sanction gender-based violence.

The care route is also established according to the context, the sector to which the people involved belong, the specific circumstances and the nature of the cases.

Care Units

All UAM University Campuses have action protocols and instances that can support you if you experience gender-based violence, and they are in charge of providing guidance, channeling and accompaniment to the university community.

The Ombudsman for University Rights (located at the General Rectory)

It is in charge of defending and looking after the respect of university right, in addition to promoting the human rights culture among the community. It has the powers to guide the community due to the affectation or possible affectation of university eights. Moreover, it can address complaints, initiate ex officio procedures, issue precautionary measures, implement mediation and conciliation mechanisms and, where appropriate, issue recommendations to those responsible for the transgression.

Gender-based violence has a strong psychological impact on the people who experience it. For this reason, it is important to know the available resources in our Institution to receive psychological guidance, as well as initial attention, to later be channeled to other instances where management by certified professionals can be deepened.
